Notary Jotter is a digital notary journal app provided by Brantlab and designed to help users create, manage, back up, and review notary journal records.

Information We Collect

Notary Jotter does not require an account and does not collect personal information on our servers.

The app may store information that you enter into the app, including:

  • Notary profile information
  • Journal entries
  • Signer names and addresses
  • Document types
  • Fees and trip fees
  • Notes
  • Signatures
  • Attachments, photos, scans, or uploaded files
  • Location information, if you choose to log GPS location
  • Checklist and renewal information

This information is stored locally on your device.

Notary Jotter does not create a user account for you, does not operate a cloud database for your journal records, and does not collect this information on Brantlab servers.

How Information Is Used

Information entered into Notary Jotter is used only to provide app features, including:

  • Creating and viewing notary journal entries
  • Searching and filtering records
  • Generating analytics
  • Tracking checklist and renewal items
  • Exporting, backing up, and restoring encrypted journal data

Data Storage and Security

Notary Jotter stores journal data in encrypted form on your device. The app uses standard encryption provided through Apple platform technologies.

If you choose to create a backup, the backup is encrypted with the password you provide. You are responsible for remembering that password. We cannot recover lost backup passwords.

iCloud and File Backups

If you enable iCloud backup, encrypted backup files may be stored in your Apple iCloud account. iCloud storage is provided by Apple and is subject to Apple’s privacy practices.

You may also export encrypted backup files through the Files app or another location you choose.

Permissions

Notary Jotter may request access to:

  • Camera: to capture document images
  • Photos or files: to attach documents or images
  • Location: to optionally record GPS location for a journal entry
  • Device authentication: to help protect access to the app

These permissions are used only for the related app features.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your data.

We do not use third-party advertising or tracking.

We do not share your journal data with third parties. Data may be shared only when you choose to export, back up, restore, or otherwise share files from your device.

Apple may process information related to your download, purchase, device, crash reports, diagnostics, iCloud, or App Store use under Apple’s own privacy policies and account settings.

Children’s Privacy

Notary Jotter is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Data Retention and Deletion

Your data remains on your device unless you delete it, delete the app, or export/back it up to a location you control.

You can delete app data by deleting journal entries, removing backup files, or deleting the app from your device.

Because Brantlab does not store your journal records on its servers, Brantlab cannot access, modify, export, or delete your locally stored journal data for you.
